Gurmukh Singh Bali is son of late Shri M.S. Bali; born on 27th July, 1954 at Kangra;
Diploma in Mechanical engineering;
Married (20th June 1977); one son and two daughters;
Industrialist and Agriculturist.
Vice Chairman and subsequently Chairman, State Social Bodies Federation; Convener, Indian National Congress, Vichar Manch, 1990-97;
President, Congress Seva Dal, 1995-98; Joint Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee, 1993-98; and Founder President, Himachal Nagrik
Sudhar Sabha. Elected to Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in 1998; re-elected in 2003. Remained Transport Minister, March 6, 2003 to July 29,
2007.Elected to the assembly for a third consecutive term in December 2007.
2012 - Elected to the assembly for a fourth consecutive term in December 2012.
Presently serving the people of HP as well as his assembly constituency with three important ministries - Food & civil supplies, Transport and Technical education.
Special Interest : Service of downtrodden and weaker sections of society.
Languages Known : Hindi, English and Punjabi.
Travels Abroad : Australia, Singapore and Europeon countries.

Fact File
1. He is the first ever minister of Himachal pradesh who provided his phone numbers on every HRTC buses, HP tourism hotel (during previous term) and on all civil supply retail outlets.
Moreover he never kept his mobile 'switched off' like others.
2. He is the only minister who refused to accept the 'guard of honor' when all others were accepting that. He refused the
'guard of honor' as he always believe that he is one among the common man.
3. He donates considerable amount of his entire income to the welfare of poor of the area.
4. He has launched 'Operation smile' for the needy poor of the area who can't afford the high cost of plastic surgery.
In the 'operation smile' free camps are being organised to treat 'cleft lip' and 'cleft palate' at nearest possible locations.
5. He is patronising and running the 'Nagrota welfare society' with the prime objective that nobody in the area is left without
education and medical aid. Nagrota welfare society' is serving the community without politics.
6. 'Bal mela' is organised every year on 27th July in which all the people of the area, primarily children and women participate.
Main highlights of this annual carnival includes- special free rides including animal rides for children, free medical-aid camps,
cultural activities (including many star performers), 'Mister' & 'Miss' Nagrota competitions and many more.

Nagrota welfare society is being patronised and run by Sh. G.S. Bali
The society is a non-political organisation and registered with Registrar Societies (Kangra) vide Regn no 665/SDK Dtd 14.10.2005)
The society has following objectives -
Distribution of free text books and payment of fees to the poor and underprivileged students of the region to carry out their studies
sometimes upto professional colleges. Distribution of sewing machines and other such things to widows in order to make them self
reliant.Organization of free multispecialty medical camps. Distribution of free medicines to needy. Providing monetary assistance for
the treatment of needy, treatment of critical illness.Workshops for the development of children in the rural area. Providing monetary
assistance for the marriage of poor girls. Artificial limbs to the handicapped, audiovisual aids to the visual & hearing impaired poor
people. The welfare society also provides special help to the poor to meet out the funeral expenses at the hours of crisis.

Bal Mela 'The annual carnival'

Bal mela is organised by 'Bal Mela Ayogan committee' on 26th & 27th July every year on the occasion of birthday of Sh. G.S. Bali.
All the people of the area, primarily children and women participate in this long awaited event.
Main highlights (all free of cost) of this annual carnival includes-
Special free rides including animal rides( elephants & camels) for children.
Special dishes like - ice-cream & jalebis.
Special 'Kangri Dham' (Community lunch)
Cultural activities (including many star performances from artists of Himachal & all over India).
Special programmes from 'Bollywood' artists.
'Mister' & 'Miss' Nagrota competitions.
Plantation activities.
Blood donation camp.
Health Exhibition.
Special medical camp by specialist doctors of PGI, AIIMS, Fortis & Appolo hospitals.
Cardiology Check-up Camp ( 2 days) (26th and 27th July every year)
- By super-specialist doctors of ‘Escort heart institute’ New Delhi.
- Special laboratory is setup to conduct ECG and ultrasonography tests.
- Echocardiography is also performed in the same camp.
- Usually 300- 400 procedures are done in this camp.
